RECIPE:
Tangy Smokehouse Turkey Melt
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup whole cranberry sauce
- 1/4 cup hickory barbecue sauce
- 2 Tbsp habanero jelly
- 1 1/2 cup vegetable oil (for frying)
- 2 cup thinly sliced red onions
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1/2 tsp kosher salt
- 1 - 8 oz. package Foster Farms slow oven roast turkey breast (12 slices)
- 2 bakery-fresh hoagie rolls, split
- 2 cups rainbow Swiss chard, de-stemmed and shredded
- 4 slices munster cheese
Directions:
- In food processor or blender, puree cranberry sauce, barbecue sauce and habanero jelly; set aside.
- In a medium saucepan, heat oil. In a medium bowl, combine flour, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper and salt; add onions and toss to coat; remove excess flour and fry in hot oil till golden; set aside over a paper towel.
- Pre-heat oven to 375 degrees F. Coat turkey slices generously (both sides) with prepared tangy barbecue sauce. Place 6 slices (crimped) over bottom side of roll. Top with 1 cup Swiss chard and two slices cheese. Bake for 2-3 minutes or till cheese is melted; remove from the oven.
- Top with 1/2 of the crispy onion sticks and spread more sauce on the inside of bread roll (top side). Enjoy!
